All the work at the Summer Palace was great... but the stone carvings were by far the most intricate I have seen... they even surpass IMHO the temple carving I saw in Orissa, India.

The first weekend I was in Beijing... one of the other Foreign Experts took me to the Beijing antiques fair... reall just a large field where folks were standing around next to their goods... Funny thing... the next week the authorities closed it down... to clean up the city for the International Women's Conference that was held later that year.
